zdigital What we said: It might have been a long old road to success for Metric, but with last album Fantasies winning them two Juno Awards, support slots with Muse and an appearance on the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, the release of Synthetica can now officially be deemed “a big deal”. Of course with great acclaim comes great expectation, and when Emily Haines professes herself “as f*cked-up as they say” on the opening bars of the record, you get the impression they’ve been feeling the pressure. Fortunately, the Canadian quartet sound anything but “f*cked-up” here, delivering a raft of classy electro-indie treats that should sound even better blasting out in stadiums.
