zdigital What we said: With most bands, it would be natural to be cynical about a rushed album borne out of a self-professed desire for more material to play live - but Gorillaz are not “most bands”. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s famed virtual group have long since proven their ability to defy expectations, and if their sixth full-length is about having new material to play, then you know they’re not about to phone it in. All warm and low-key hip-hop electronics, Albarn’s soft, jaded vocals and a whole host of cleverly-curated guests (this time around Snoop Dogg and George Benson make appearances), this is another ambitious album from the cartoon British innovators.
