Racking up a lengthy 80 minutes, Views delves ever deeper into the Canadian rapper’s heartfelt introspection, as he recalls tales from his Toronto hometown in typically dolorous fashion. While long-time production-partner Noah “40” Shebib adds glimpses of light via Kanye-inspired Chicago hip-hop and lush Mary J Blige samples, there’s little to override the record’s pervading melancholia, leaving Drake at perhaps his most pensive yet.
