zdigital What we said: What’s that? A collaboration between the New Wave pop pioneer and one of the noughties’ finest females? Don’t mind if we do! Annie Clarke met the David Byrne at a benefit gig in 2009, and that the duo laid down this brass-drenched long-player in-between sessions for Clarke’s last album Strange Mercy. As you’d expect from any record the Talking Heads frontman’s had his hand in, Love This Giant is a deeply melodic affair, underpinned by irresistible grooves. Also predictable is the fact that Clarke’s bewitching coos are countered perfectly by Byrne’s inimitable croon. In fact, the whole collaboration’s so obviously a match made in musical heaven, we’re surprised they didn’t do it sooner.
